These come in horizontal or vertical configurations and are available in standard angles like 30°, 60°, and 90°, or can be custom-engineered to meet project requirements . Prefabricated bends offer several advantages:Cable Protection: Smooth, controlled bend radius prevents kinking and stress on conductors .Corrosion Resistance: Made from the same high-grade fiberglass as straight trays, ensuring uniform durability .Time Efficiency: Ready to install with splice plates, reducing on-site labor .Compliance: Maintains proper bend radius to meet electrical standards and avoid sharp edges .On-Site FabricationIf prefabricated bends are not available, on-site fabrication is possible with careful planning:Mark the Tray: Identify the bend location and measure the required bend radius .Prepare the Tray Lip: Remove part of the tray lip (typically 2¾ of the tray width, split evenly on both sides) using a hand grinder or file .Cut the Center Line: Carefully cut along the center line without letting the tray fall open .Flatten the Lip: Use a blunt object to flatten the tray lip at the bend point .Bend and Bolt: Bend the tray to the desired angle (e.g., 90°) and secure the two parts together with bolts .Add Gussets: Measure the internal edge distance and fabricate a gusset from tray material to reinforce the bend .Adjustable BendsSome FRP systems offer horizontal adjustable bends (HAB) that allow fine-tuning of the angle on-site.
